Albert Dupontel est recemment a Montpellier Afin de dialoguer avec des etudiants en cinema.

Le realisateur cesarise et comedien populaire se confie sur le art et sa vision du monde.

Il existe pile vingt-cinq ans, vous sortiez “Bernie” et inventiez avec lui un genre : le cartoon social, dont vous etes forcement le maitre…

Franchement ? On n’invente rien. Notre cinema a desormais plus d’un siecle, on ne est en mesure de jamais pretendre y inventer grand-chose… En tout cas, moi, je ne me vois pas comme 1 inventeur, si»rement nullement !

Neanmoins, c’est avec votre film (culte) que le cartoon social prend une forme cinematographique…

Comme je disais aux etudiants que j’ai rencontres avant vous (*), on est tous habites via des nevroses, des ressentis ou des commentaires sur l’epoque qu’on traverse. L’univers dont je parle, c’est celui que je ressens. Apres, j’essaie d’en rendre compte sous une forme distrayante, que ce soit au sein d’ l’emotion, la grandiloquence… ou une certaine rusticite. Mais au fond, je raconte toujours legerement la meme histoire : en gros, la difficulte de s’aimer dans un monde repressif et anxiogene.

Cette forme tient un peu de l’oxymore entre son idee sociale et son possible cartoonesque…

Quand j’ai debute au cinema, je sortais du spectacle. Le cartoon etait une facon de m’exprimer, celle qui me mettait a l’aise a l’epoque, tres rustique, tres brutale, tres radicale… J’avais la trentaine… Ensuite, la phrase de Nietzsche s’est imposee a moi : “Vieillir, c’est savoir l’art une nuance”.

Apres, quand on ouvre une a, on en decouvre deux, ainsi, ainsi de suite. Ce qui avait debute tel un matine de Charlie Chaplin, des Monty Python, de Taxi Driver et de la bande dessinee a la Gotlib (un type tres important i  mon sens) s’est elargi peu a peu.

Qu’est-ce qui vous plait tellement dans la fable ?

Je chope qu’en passant par la metaphore, on parvient desfois a atteindre plus sa cible. La realite, vous l’avez bien le temps sous les yeux, a J’ai television, Internet, YouTube, la videosurveillance… Par la fable, on ne se contente pas de montrer, on suggere des choses de facon plus ou moins adroite mais il semble que Notre Fontaine percute plus que nos commentaires de l’epoque, que Prenons un exemple Michelet.

N’est-ce nullement aussi une maniere de pudeur que votre expression ?

Balzac disait qu’il y avait deux facons d’ecrire : soit on restitue la realite, soit on l’exprime. Je prefere indubitablement exprimer la realite, bien en ayant beaucoup d’admiration Afin de ceux qui savent la restituer brillamment tel Ken Loach ou Ingmar Bergman, comme. Notre desequilibre, le vertige dans lequel me plonge la realite ne est en mesure de bouger que sous une telle forme-la.

Albert Dupontel. en bref

De son bon nom Philippe Guillaume, Albert Dupontel reste ne le 11 janvier 1964 a Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Cela se destine d’abord a la medecine tel sa famille mais il s’fait suer et abandonne pour le theatre aupres d’Yves Pignot, d’Antoine Vitez et tres brievement d’Ariane Mnouchkine.

En 1990, il se lance dans le one-man-show et explose grace au soutien de Canal + d’une part et de Patrick Sebastien d’autre part. Neanmoins, c’est le cinema qu’il prefere par-dessus tout.

Comme acteur, il brille concernant Audiard, Noe, Jeunet, reddit onenightfriend Blier, Boukhrief, Becker, Valette, Kervern & Delepine… Comme realisateur (et acteur), il signe sept films dont les fort cultes Bernie et Le Createur, les reellement populaires 9 mois ferme et Adieu les cons , ainsi, le chef-d’?uvre Au-revoir la-haut.

Divers vous disent detache de l’univers mais au fond, gui?re vraiment !

Je suis totalement immerge dedans. Mes films sont des histoires d’amour deguisees, ils renferment un message entre guillemets, politique, ou plutot apolitique. Le futur va etre tres net concernant votre point-la.

Je parle de la difficulte de s’aimer dans un monde repressif et anxiogene

Dans aucun de vos films vous prenez le avis du “bon cote du manche”, mais preferez toujours celui d’la pelle, qu’on envoie dans la tronche ou qu’on se te prend…

J’habite du cote des gens qui souffrent parce que je suis sensible a ce qui. Je lis en ce moment Ailleurs de Gerard Depardieu qui, non content d’etre votre acteur de genie, reste aussi un auteur brillant. Il y raconte que Afin de lui, la veritable violence, c’est le i?tre capable de, et il a cent fois raison.

Notre violence, c’est le i?tre capable de, celui qu’on a sur les gens, que votre soit par la seduction, l’argent, la force, la hierarchie… L’amour reste une protestation contre votre violence. Tant qu’on peut s’aimer, c’est tenable.

On dit que les grands auteurs font i  chaque fois le aussi film ?

Completement, aussi si l’adjectif “grand” me semble excessif me concernant ! Comme je dis, je suis redondant et nevrotique, ainsi, je l’assume (faute de pouvoir faire autrement). Juste, avec le temps, l’experience, la ti?che de l’ecriture, le renfort d’une equipe fidele et formidable, on ameliore ce film !

On accede a un nuancier plus riche et subtil… Je ne serais gui?re sincere si je refaisais Bernie aujourd’hui. On doit respecter votre qu’on reste et accepter qu’une fois que c’est fera, c’est fond, on ne le refera plus.

J’suis redondant, nevrotique et je l’assume (faute de pouvoir faire autrement)

Avez-vous conscience de la part grandissante une tendresse dans votre ?uvre ?

J’ai vieilli, j’ai des enfants. J’ai conscience que l’existence n’a aucun sens et que seul l’amour peut lui en donner un. Et quand je dis l’amour, c’est l’amour du genre humain, c’est l’amour de ce que nous sommes, c’est saisir nos autres…

J’ai seule intelligence, disait Henri Laborit, c’est de savoir fuir les gens qui vous font du mal, de les deviner… vous devez beaucoup d’intelligence Afin de aimer. Mais c’est la meilleure facon de donner un sens a tout ca, au fait qu’on soit la sans savoir d’ou l’on vient, ni ou l’on va.

Il existe l’emotion qui va croissant dans votre ?uvre et la presence des femmes.

Les femmes me peuvent permettre d’exprimer une virilite que je ne parviens nullement a exprimer ! Les hommes et les femmes ne vont pas pouvoir nullement s’epanouir des uns sans des autres, et je ne parle pas evidemment de reproduction, mais d’accomplissement intellectuel.

Ces dames seront infiniment plus subtiles que nous, mon areopage de production est exclusivement feminin, faire mes meilleurs lecteurs sont des jeunes filles… Du est, c’est prouve que la femme reste plus intelligente que l’homme. Lui reste encombre par sa testosterone qui le rend cretin, combatif, destructeur ! Mais c’est vrai que ca diminue si l’on vieillit. On a moins besoin de coups de pelle ! Savez-vous ce que Bunuel a dit di?s qu’il est devenu impuissant ? Cela a dit : “Ouf” !
